Premium or Lite: which series suits your office

Premium up to 35 dB — certified confidentiality. Lite 25 dB — noise softening for calls. We compare them by price and by scenario.

Premium or Lite: which series suits your office

Choose Premium (up to 35 dB) when a conversation has to stay private: client negotiations, HR, finance or legal matters. Choose Lite (~25 dB) when people mainly need calm for calls, video meetings and focused work, at a lower price. A single Solo Premium costs €5,690 and a single Solo Lite €4,490, excl. VAT.

Both series come as Solo for one person, Duet for two and Quartet for up to four, with LED lighting at 3500–4500 K and their own ventilation. They differ in sound insulation, structure, glazing, warranty and price.

One question decides it: what if you are overheard?

Imagine the conversation is overheard. If that is a breach of confidentiality, take Premium. If it is merely awkward, Lite solves the problem for less. Silentbox draws the line plainly: around 25 dB is comfortable for video conferences, but it is not full acoustic isolation for confidential negotiations; that level belongs to the Premium series.

Normal conversation sits at 60–70 dBA, according to the US National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD). A ~25 dB booth softens it noticeably; a booth with up to 35 dB reduces it much further, and the gap of up to 10 dB between them is up to a factor of ten in sound energy. Each is a single number that sums up many frequency bands; ISO 717-1 sets out how such ratings are formed for building elements. Our guide to what 35 dB means explains how to read them.

Premium up to 35 dB: for conversations that must stay private

Certified insulation to ISO 11957. The conversation cannot be heard a metre from the booth. Choose it when confidentiality is critical: client negotiations, financial discussions, legal consultations, HR meetings. The specification reads “Patented design · aluminium frame”, with a five-layer wall; the glazing is three-layer laminated tempered glass on the Solo Premium and three-layer laminated glass on the Duet Premium and Quartet Premium. The Premium warranty is tiered by component: 10 years on the structure and frame, 5 years on the electronics and lighting, and 3 years on moving parts and ventilation. Price: Solo from €4,790, excl. VAT, for orders of five or more booths. A single Solo Premium costs €5,690, excl. VAT.

Lite ~25 dB: calm for calls, video meetings and focus

The Lite series softens speech noise and gives visual privacy. It is enough for calls, video conferences and concentration in open-plan spaces, where you need to cut out the background hum but full confidentiality is not required. In the catalogue's words, it is a comfortable spot for calls and meetings that do not involve legally sensitive topics. Lite booths have an aluminium frame, the Solo Lite has a large tempered-glass window, and every Lite model carries a 3-year warranty. Price: Solo Lite from €3,790, excl. VAT, for orders of five or more booths. A single Solo Lite costs €4,490, excl. VAT.

What is the same in both series

Formats, lighting and the ventilation design are shared, and airflow grows with the size of the booth, as the table shows. Every booth is free-standing and needs only a standard 220 V socket. Installation times match within each pair except the Duet: 2–3 hours for the Solo Premium and the Solo Lite, from 2 hours for the Quartet Premium and the Quartet Lite, 3–5 hours for the Duet Premium and 3–4 hours for the Duet Lite.

Price per booth in each series

Each model has three price tiers, set by the total number of booths in one order: one or two, three or four, or five or more. The “from” price on a model card is the five-or-more tier. Prices exclude VAT; delivery and installation are quoted separately, and logistics start from €300. Production takes 3–6 weeks, then delivery to the UK takes 25 days.

Choosing by activity: what ISO 22955 suggests

ISO 22955:2021 gives technical guidance on the acoustic quality of open office spaces and groups them by the activity that takes place there. One of its space types reads:

Space type 2: activity mainly focusing on outside of the room communication (by telephone/audio/video)

ISO 22955:2021, abstract, iso.org

Calls and video meetings are that kind of activity, and Lite usually fits them. Conversations whose content must not leave the room are a different activity, and that is where Premium belongs. Speech also travels: ISO 3382-3 describes how to measure the spatial decay of speech, meaning how quickly speech fades with distance across an unoccupied open-plan office. Where speech carries far, a confidential call taken at a desk reaches more listeners: one more reason to move it into a booth with up to 35 dB of insulation. In Great Britain these international standards serve as design guidance, not as requirements for a booth.

Mixing Premium and Lite on one floor

Because the tier counts every booth in the order, mixing series still earns the volume price: two Solo Premium booths for confidential calls and three Solo Lite booths for everyday calls make an order of five, so each is billed at the five-or-more tier of its own model. For focused individual work there is also the WorkPod, a one-person booth with ~25 dB and a 3-year warranty; our guide to choosing a booth compares all seven models.

Questions about Premium and Lite

Is Lite enough for video calls?

Yes. Around 25 dB is comfortable for video conferences, but it is not full acoustic isolation for confidential negotiations; that level belongs to the Premium series. To hear the difference before you choose, the Sound Lab on the Silentbox site has 12 real office noises and 6 booths to compare, including Premium (up to 35 dB) against Lite (~25 dB).

How much more does Premium cost than Lite?

It depends on the format and the order size. A single Solo Premium costs €5,690 and a single Solo Lite €4,490; a single Duet Premium €10,190 and a single Duet Lite €7,190; a single Quartet Premium €11,290 and a single Quartet Lite €8,590. Larger orders are priced at lower tiers. All prices excl. VAT.

Can we order Premium and Lite together, and which price applies?

Yes. The tier depends on the total number of booths in one order, whatever the series, so two Premium and three Lite booths are each billed at the five-or-more tier of their own model, excl. VAT. Delivery and installation are quoted separately.

Is the warranty different?

Yes. It depends on the series: Premium booths (Solo, Duet, Quartet) carry up to 10 years, while Solo Lite, Duet Lite, Quartet Lite and WorkPod carry a 3-year warranty. The Premium warranty is tiered by component: 10 years on the structure and frame, 5 years on the electronics and lighting, and 3 years on moving parts and ventilation.

Do both series have the same ventilation?

The design is the same: supply and exhaust in the ceiling unit, an occupancy sensor, and quiet fans with acoustic silencers. Airflow is 300 m³/h for the Solo Premium, 250–300 m³/h for the Solo Lite and 550–600 m³/h for the Duet and Quartet of both series.
